The Paleo Diet has been gaining increasing attention in health and wealthiness industry.

The Paleo Diet goes back to the basic foods consumed by our ancestors. It narrows down to what could be hunted or picked back in the days, such as vegetables, seeds, meat, and even fish. 

It excludes modern day foods such as cereal and pasta, which did not exist in the ancient days of early man.

Here are 5 of my best Paleo recipes. Enjoy!

1. Lemon Infused Chicken

Chicken breast is one of the best ingredients when it comes to weight loss as it is a very good source of proteins. In this recipe, chicken breast is soaked in lemon juice which will add an extra flavour to the recipe. Citrus fruits such as lemon are recognized as detoxifying agents during the weight loss process .

Ingredients:

  • 125g of chicken breast, cut into strips
  • 3 tbsp of lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp of freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ tbsp of oregano
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Add all the ingredients to a bowl.
  2. Mix them thoroughly and allow the mixture to rest for 30 min.
  3. After 30 min, transfer the marinated chicken breast strips to a baking tray.
  4. Bake at 175C for 30 min.
  5. Serve hot.

2. Brussels Sprout Casserole

High protein recipe with herbs helps to boost the metabolism of our body and results in weight loss. Further, the nutrient rich Brussels sprouts are rich in antioxidants which aids in the weight loss process.

Ingredients:

  • 100g of Brussels sprouts 
  • 5 egg whites
  • ¼ cup of almond milk
  • ½ cup of roasted chicken, cut into small pieces
  • ½ tbsp of garlic powder
  • ½ tbsp of freshly ground white pepper 
  • ½ tbsp of dried sage
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Add all ingredients to a bowl.
  2. Mix them thoroughly.
  3. Transfer the content to a casserole baking tray.
  4. Bake the casserole at 180C for 30 min.
  5. Serve hot.

3. Baked Salmon piece in lemon 

Lemon infused salmon is one of the best sources of healthy fatty acids for a person who is trying to lose weight. Addition of herbs to this recipe helps to accelerate the metabolism of the body and thus leads to weight loss.

Ingredients:

  • 150g of salmon
  • 3 tbsp of lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp of freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp of oregano
  • ½ tbsp of dried mint
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Add all the ingredients to a bowl.
  2. Mix them thoroughly and allow the mixture to rest for at least 30 minutes.
  3. After 30 min, transfer the salmon piece to a baking tray.
  4. Bake at 175C for 20 min.
  5. Serve hot.

4. Spicy Chicken Roast

High protein spicy chicken roast with variety of spices is a great way to boost your metabolism to lose weight faster. The spices in this recipe help to reduce the level of bad cholesterol in the body as well as reduce the negative effects of fat deposits in your body.

Ingredients:

  • 200g of chicken pieces
  • 1 tbsp of tamarind paste
  • ½ tbsp of paprika powder
  • ¼ tbsp of cinnamon powder
  • ½ tbsp of mint powder
  • ¼ tbsp of ginger paste
  • ½ tbsp of garlic paste
  • ¼ tbsp of balsamic vinegar
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  1. In a bowl, add all the ingredients and mix it thoroughly.
  2. Allow the mixture to rest in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
  3. After 2 hours, transfer the content to a baking tray.
  4. Pre-heat the oven at 180C for 5 min.
  5. Roast the chicken pieces at 180C for 35-40 min.
  6. Serve hot.

5. Green Soup

What can be a better choice than greens, when you are trying to lose weight? Spinach and kale leaves complement each other to supply our body with vital nutrients including high amount of fibers. These healthy fibers help to fill our stomach, reducing the tendency to overeat.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of spinach leaves, chopped
  • 1 cup of kale leaves, chopped
  • 1 cup of chicken stock water
  • 1 tbsp of freshly ground pepper
  • ½ tbsp of dill
  • 1 tbsp of lemon juice
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  1. In a vessel, add all the ingredients except lemon juice and dill.
  2. Bring the mixture to boil for at least 10 min with lid on.
  3. After 10 min, turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool.
  4. Add the green mixture to a blender and blend them thoroughly.
  5. Add lemon juice, dill and salt (if required).
  6. Serve hot.
